Southside Desire takes #1 in Hymie's Records year-end album list

How very pleasing for a funny little record label like ours! Hymie's Vintage Records, who have been tremendous supporters since before Songs to Love and Die To came out, and who are arguably the best record store in the U.S.A., picked Southside Desire's debut album as the best local (Twin Cities) album of the year.

Hymies’ Ten Favorite Local Albums of 2012 (#1): Songs to Love and Die To by Southside Desire

Here's a video of the band playing an in-store there back in October. The song performed is "Casualty of Love" and will very likely be one of the 2 new Southside Desire songs on the upcoming 7"

JT and the Sloppy Seconds/ Southside Desire Split 7"!

Y'all! We're thrilled to formally announce PIN-003...

It's a split 7"  with 2 songs by JT and the Sloppy Seconds (their first record, yay!) and 2 new songs by Southside Desire! Due for a spring release, more news to come as it exists.

Meanwhile, get stoked for PIN-002: the debut EP from Narco States, being celebrated with a release party at the Nomad on January 25!

The dessicated remains of Target's electronics department

Post by Damien-

Piñata news: Southside Desire's Songs to Love and Die To will be available at the following stores on Saturday Dec 1st: Roadrunner, Treehouse, Electric Fetus (Minneapolis location). Be sure to buy them up so the stores like our label and want to stock more!

Also, the above-mentioned album is listed in a poll on MPR's website for Local Album of 2012. If you like it vote for it! Here are a few of my suggestions for other records to vote for:

L'Assassins- L'Assassins EP
Teenage Moods- Grow
Lucy Michelle and The Velvet Lapelles- Heat
Part Mammal- Return to Lucky Star
write-in: Mystery Date's S/T cassette

Other news: Jonathan from JT and the Sloppy Seconds (who are fantastic, go see them!) told me about this band The O'My's from Chicago. Very tight, smooth R&B/Soul. Very very good.

We're Number 1!

It's our first post! and here's the deal: we're a new little Minneapolis record label. We started just to put out Southside Desire records (we're all in that band). Within days of starting we got contacted by Narco States to help put out their record, too. So we became a real record label. October saw the release of the first Piñata Record: Southside Desire's Songs to Love and Die To. It's available on vinyl and digitally. For the month of November 2012, the record is only for sale at Hymie's Vintage Records (39th Ave and Lake St in Minneapolis) and at the band's shows. After that it'll be in any Twin Cities record store willing to take it!

We're very excited for the upcoming release of Narco States' debut 7" EP. You can stream songs from this record here:

We expect the record release party in late January 2013.
